Low Carb Bbq and Healthy Grilling Ideas

Healthy & Low Carb Barbeque Recipes

With just a couple of changes to a classic barbeque sauce recipe, you'll be cooking Low Carb Bbq that even those not counting carbs will love.

One of the many nice things about barbeque is you don't have to change many things and you have low carb barbeque recipes already. Barbeque naturally lends itself perfectly to almost any low carb barbeque sauce recipe or dry rub recipe.

Meat on a bbq pit or grill is always a healthy choice. It is virtually carb free and relatively low-fat as well. The only way meat ever gets any carbs is when it is added, as in a breading or when a sauce with sugar is used.

There are so many delicious ways to have your meat low carb or carb free, you should never really feel deprived or feel like you're missing something. You won't feel like you are on a diet.


One of the first things you should try to really cut down on carbohydrates is a good low sugar, low carb bbq sauce recipe like the one below. If you can think of ingredients you might like to add without adding the sugars, by all means do it. Most recipes are made to be changed to fit your taste.

For most barbeque sauce recipes, you need a tomato product as your base ingredient. Many barbeque styles use ketchup as a base ingredient. For this low carb bbq sauce recipe, substitute the ketchup with tomatoe sauce or puree to wipe out the carbs.

Low Carb Barbeque Sauce

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 minced onion
  • 1 small can of tomato sauce
  • 2 cups of water
  • 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar(not the one with sugar)
  • 1/4 cup of Worcestershire sauce
  • pinch paprika
  • pinch chili powder
  • pinch cinnamon
  • 5-6 whole cloves
  • salt and pepper to taste

DIRECTIONS:

Place all of the ingredients in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil. Lower the heat and simmer for around 15 minutes. You will have a barbeque sauce that everyone will love.

Again feel free to make changes. You can always add onions, green pepper, red pepper, jalapenos, orange juice, pineapple juice, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce or anything else to bring out different flavors of the barbeque sauce.

To keep it low in carbs and stay away from sugar or any items that have sugar added. Otherwise, it is up to you to decide if you would like to use ingredients that have natural sugars or not.
